The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) is highlighting adventure travel, luxury travel and sustainable travel as three areas of focus for the Japanese market in the future. These types of tourism are seen as benefiting the regional Japanese economy as well as resolving the problem of overtourism. While adventure travel experiences are relatively new in Japan, no destination is more equipped to offer such experiences with its four distinct seasons and diverse natural landscapes and culture.

Films released to inspire “Kammui Adventures”

The launch of Kammui Adventures comes with the release of two groundbreaking films produced by Kammui, to inspire travelers to venture into the unexplored regions of Japan. The first film is a documentary of renowned San Francisco based Michelin-award winning chef, Stuart Brioza (State Bird Provisions, The Progress, Anchovy Bar) embarking on a journey of culinary exploration and outdoor adventure across Hokkaido: “Kammui Adventures in Hokkaido”. The second film is a documentary curated and produced for US-based lifestyle brand Huckberry, “DIRT: Kyushu”, exploring the history, nature and culture of the region while following the island’s eastern sea currents. “DIRT: Kyushu” has been viewed over 350,000 times since its release last month.

Kammui Adventures is launching with bookable experiences inspired by these two films which include:
