Location: Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan

Contract term: Initial fixed term 12 month contract starting 1st June 2022

Work hours: Average of 40-45 hours per week during peak season and 35-40 in off peak
Salary and benefits:

  • Salary start rate of between ¥400,000 – ¥500,000 depending on experience

About us

Rhythm Japan has been operating since 2005 and has since grown into one of Japan’s most successful ski and snowboard rental and retail outlets. We operate multiple stores across 3 locations of Niseko, Hakuba and Furano which are some of Japan’s most well known ski resorts.
Due to the nature and the seasonality of the business the majority of our recruiting is primarily focused on the winter season and our team can fluctuate up to several hundred staff in winter.

The role

As the HR Manager your role will be essential to running the HR department responsible for overseeing recruitment, general people processes and team wellbeing across Japan. Our people are important to us and vital to the running of our business so as HR Manager and with the support of Head of People Operations and a small team, you will be responsible for hiring the right people who align with our company goals and culture and ensuring an epic employee experience from start to finish.

Key responsibilities and duties :

  • Manage all aspects of HR department including the hiring processes from recruiting, interviewing, and hiring and onboarding/offboarding of new staff and the continued development of new recruitment strategies
  • Assist in implementing and building of the training and development programs across the organization
  • Manage and delegate all aspects of the HR administrative responsibilities ensuring up to date record keeping and reporting
  • Implement systems managing staff benefits, payroll and performance management, health and safety and employee living assistance
  • Ensure legal compliances across all areas related to HR
  • Manage any disciplinary matters or conflicts as they arise and do your best bring them to resolution
  • Promote employee engagement, communication and general wellness in the workplace

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you must have excellent people and communication skills with previous experience in Human Resources and or Recruitment and sound understanding of up to date current HR industry practices.

Demonstrate proficiency in general computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite or Google Business applications and a general good understanding of technology

You must have excellent organization and delegation skills and enjoy helping new people from different cultures.
