JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Luxe Nomad/Nisade has a well-established and operating owner and property management division with a wide range of properties across Asia within its portfolio. Emerging from the pandemic and with a renewed sense of purpose with The Luxe Nomad’s partnership we are looking to drive Property Management and Owner & Guest Experience forward and truly challenge the status quo within the hospitality industry. We seek a talented and driven General Manager to join us on this journey, leading a service-focused team covering property management, finance, owner relations, HR, marketing, reservations, guest experience and hotel operations in Hokkaido, Japan. 

As General Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the respective departments, ensuring effective task management and compliance. The General Manager is primarily responsible for driving the company forward and ensuring your team has the tools and resources to achieve their goals. You will be a pivotal senior management team member of The Luxe Nomad, empowered to drive change in line with our mission to champion, inspire, and enable owners and guests to travel well.

REQUIREMENTS: 

This position requires a strategic vision for the company, effective communication skills, empowering leadership abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning. The General Manager will be responsible for setting clear performance goals, fostering collaboration and teamwork, and maintaining a customer-centric approach. Adaptability, agility, ethical leadership, and strong problem-solving skills are also essential. The ideal candidate should possess resourcefulness, multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for service and travel. 

You will be leading a team of approximately 80 full-time staff from a wide range of backgrounds and different nationalities, as well as another 100+ seasonal staff in winter. The property portfolio under management will be one of the largest in Hokkaido. You must be inspirational when it comes to leading the team, driving excellence in every interaction with guests, owners, suppliers and the local community. 

Reporting to the COO and ultimately the board of directors, you will ultimately be expected to be across all aspects of the business. While the primary responsibility is to ensure the profitability of the company, you will also be responsible for great reviews from guests and owners as well as the retention and recruitment of excellent and driven employees. 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION 

  1. Possess a high level of resourcefulness, multitasking ability, attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills. 
  2. Foster a proactive approach to sales to stay ahead of tasks and drive efficiency. 
  3. Exhibit exceptional emotional intelligence, remaining composed and professional in demanding and unique circumstances. 
  4. Act swiftly and decisively. 
  5. Demonstrate quick learning abilities, with a passion for service and travel. 6. Extensive experience of setting budgets, exceeding income and expense targets, understanding of P&L and overall company finance performance management. 
  6. Minimum 3 years experience in a senior management position preferably within the hospitality sector. 
  7. Track record of both financial and employee performance achievement.
  8. Experience with working with data sets and making data-driven decisions. 10. Knowledge and experience of the Niseko region are not essential but may aid your application. 
  9. Japanese language skills, or demonstrable experience of working with and managing non-native speakers of English, are both a plus. 
  10. Willingness to relocate to Niseko, Hokkaido, full time.
