Bear sighting reported in Kutchan
A bear sighting was reported in the Kanbetsu district. The snow continues to melt and many people go into nature for leisure or to collect wild vegetables. Please make sure never to go into the mountains on your own and carry an item that makes noise to ward off bears. If you see a bear or a bear’s footprints around Niseko, please report it to the Agricultural Division (Livestock and Forestry Section) at the Kutchan Town Council.

Niseko mountains to open for spring climbing season!
The mountains in the Niseko area are scheduled to be open for clibmers as follows.

A caretaker will be stationed in the mountain hut from that day on.
